Wedding Photography FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Will you photograph our wedding personally?
Yes. Absolutely — I photograph every wedding personally.
What packages and services do you offer?
Please see the next question “How much do you charge?” for details.
How much do you charge?
£1450 (without an album)
£1950 including a GraphiStudio album. See Prices & Packages for details.
How can I secure a booking?
I require a deposit of 25%, by bank transfer. As soon as this is received, I will confirm your booking by email.
Where can we meet you to discuss our wedding?
You can visit me at my home in Stevenage, or we can arrange a Zoom meeting.
How are images supplied?
Images are supplied as full‑size, high‑resolution JPEGs, available for digital download via Google Drive, or similar service.
If an album is included in your chosen package, this will normally be supplied with 8 weeks of ordering.
Do you accept provisional bookings?
Sorry, no. Until a booking is confirmed by payment of a deposit, the booking does not exist. I accept the first booking that pays the deposit.
Does your service include a pre-wedding shoot?
Yes, all packages include a pre‑wedding shoot. This gives us an opportunity to get to know each other and provides you with some great images.
One image is included as a full‑size, high‑resolution JPEG that you can use as you wish. Many couples use this on orders of service or menus.
Should I have a pre-wedding shoot?
I really recommend that you do. It gives us both a chance to get to know each other better, which in my experience leads to better photos on the wedding day.
It also gets you used to being photographed by a professional. Many couples have told me they felt more confident and relaxed about their photos after the pre‑wedding shoot.
When and where will the pre-wedding shoot take place?
This can be scheduled at a time to suit you. It’s often arranged a few months before your wedding, but the timing is entirely up to you.
I live in Stevenage and normally shoot in Fairlands Valley Park. If you live outside the area and prefer another location, we can discuss this — there may be a small additional cost depending on distance.
Do I have to pose for photos?
That’s entirely up to you. They are your photos, and they should reflect what you want. We will discuss your photography preferences in detail nearer the wedding, and that’s your opportunity to tell me what you do and don’t want.
Most couples prefer a mixture — some posed shots to take advantage of great settings and light, and plenty of natural, candid images taken throughout the day.
If you prefer very few traditional shots, that’s absolutely fine. If you want lots of them, that’s fine too.
A pre‑wedding shoot is included in all packages, and I strongly recommend taking advantage of it. It helps you feel relaxed in front of the camera and gives us a chance to get to know each other. See the pre‑wedding shoot page for more information and photos.
How many photos will I receive?
I take an unlimited number of photos on the day — my focus is always on giving you the best possible set of images.
For weddings where I attend from bridal preparations through to the first dance (around eight hours), the final set is usually between 400–700 images. This varies depending on weather, events, timings, and how much time you wish to spend on photography.
Can I have black & white photos?
Yes, absolutely.
All images are taken in colour, which also allows for higher‑quality black & white conversions. Even if I know an image will ultimately be black & white, I still shoot it in colour — this gives far more control and creative options when editing in Lightroom and Photoshop.
I’m an expert in both programs and have taught other photographers for many years, so your black & white images will be crafted with care and skill.
Can I have images edited?
I personally edit all images for optimum brightness, colour and contrast. This standard edit does not include retouching.
If you would like retouching or more advanced editing, this is available at an additional cost. I have been using Photoshop since 1992 and Lightroom since 2007, and I taught Photoshop at college for 12 years — so I can achieve almost anything you might want.
Recently, I was commissioned to rescue a couple’s wedding photos after they were badly let down by their photographer. I removed unwanted objects, corrected issues, and even composited the couple into venue photos that the photographer failed to take. They were so delighted they sent me a case of wine!
Are there travel costs?
Travel is included up to one hour’s drive from Stevenage. Beyond that, there may be an additional mileage charge, and I will be happy to quote you.
How far will you travel?
I’m happy to travel within Europe. For weddings further afield, flights, accommodation and car hire may be required — these can either be booked by you or charged at cost.
There may also be an additional fee for the extra time involved, which I will quote on an individual basis.
How long will photos take to view?
Photos are usually ready to view within a week. Album orders typically take around four weeks.
What if it rains?
Even in the UK, it’s rare for it to rain all day. There are usually breaks in the weather, and because I stay until the first dance, there are often opportunities to take photos outside.
On the rare occasions when it does rain continuously, you can still get great photos — using umbrellas, shooting under shelter, or working indoors. Rain can even create a magical atmosphere, as it did for Ellen and Peter at Tewin Bury Farm.
Ellen said in her testimonial:
“We were so pleased with our photos… Glen worked with the rain and got some fantastic shots under umbrellas and dashing through the rain. Many magic moments were captured.”

I’ve photographed weddings in all conditions and will always use my experience to get the best possible images. An inexperienced photographer may struggle in poor weather — but I’ve handled every situation imaginable.
I’m a keen/professional photographer — does this bother you?
Not at all. I’m fully confident in my skills and experience.
I’ve photographed weddings for professional wedding photographers, commercial photographers, and even a bride whose father was a wedding photographer. All were delighted with their images.
A friend has offered to photograph my wedding. Should I let them?
I’ve been asked this many times — both by couples and by my photography students.
On four occasions, I offered to photograph a student’s friend’s wedding at a reduced fee to support them. Three out of the four times, the student’s images were very disappointing, and in one case, they would have been a disaster.
Many people today think that owning a good camera is enough, but many don’t understand the basics of photography. Even good photographers can struggle with weddings — they are fast‑paced, unpredictable, and require experience in handling people, light, weather, and pressure.
Wedding photography is a specialist skill, and doing it well in all conditions takes years of practice.
Are you qualified or a member of any associations?
I achieved the qualification standard for the Master Photographers Association (MPA). While I was a member, I was entitled to use letters after my name.
I’m no longer a member, so I no longer use the letters — but the qualification standard remains.
Are all the photos on your website your own work?
Yes. Absolutely. Every single one. All photos on this site are from real weddings.
This is a valid question — some photographers use images taken at workshops or seminars with models. I believe this is ethically wrong.
When meeting photographers, ask to see complete albums from single weddings. This shows consistency and real‑world ability.
Do you take video as well?
Sorry, no — I concentrate on what I do best.
A friend is doing some video. Is that OK?
Yes, of course. I’ve encountered this many times. What we do is complementary, and in my experience, friends filming usually keep a low profile, so we don’t get in each other’s way.
Do you work well with professional videographers?
Yes — absolutely. We’re all there to provide you with the best possible service.
I always introduce myself, and most videographers are great to work with. Many work in a “fly‑on‑the‑wall” style, so what we do doesn’t clash at all.
